Reports to: Co-Directors of the Restorative Practices team
Location: Bangalore, and other places where the team works in projects being implemented.

Job Summary

The Restorative Practices Facilitator will contribute to the team’s work on Restorative Practices including direct engagement with children in conflict with the law, and children in need of care of protection placed in Child Care
Institutions in Karnataka; children in the community, schools and other settings; families; functionaries and stakeholders in the child protection workforce such as facilitating Restorative Circles, and restorative dialogues; and strengthening the child protection system.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support Restorative Practices work and contribute to pedagogy, research, and content development for Restorative Practice team.
2. Develop and apply knowledge, attitudes and skills required to facilitate Restorative Processes.
3. Facilitate restorative processes with children in child care institutions and in the community.
4. Work with children and youth in vulnerable situations and those within the child protection system as well as their families, providing psycho-social support.
5. Coordinate and work with child protection functionaries and support work being undertaken by the team to strengthen the child protection system.
6. Contribute to ongoing research, teaching, training, and publications on issues concerning children and on Restorative Practices.
7. Support team members in organizing events and activities.
8. Any other work allocated based on mutual consultation.

EDUCATION

Preferable: Master’s degree in Social Work, or related field

TRAINING

Preferable: Training in Restorative Justice, Child Rights, Child and Adolescent Development, mediation, conflict management, Juvenile Justice Act, and related themes, and Program Management.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential: Minimum 2 years of professional work experience in working directly with children in the child protection system in India.
Preferable: Work experience in the field of Restorative Practices, child rights, social justice, Program Management.

● Interpersonal skills, ability to work constructively with government,non-government agencies and individuals with diverse ideologies/agendas.
● Good interpersonal communication skills (writing and verbal)
● Documentation skills with ability to analyze issues and write concise, quality reports in English
● Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team with willingness to contribute and learn from others
● Proficient in speaking, reading and writing English and Kannada.
● Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT), use of internet and email.
